Services

EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES

The station is staffed with four firefighter/EMTs 24 hours a day, 365 days per year. Emergency Medical Services make up nearly 80% of the 911 responses; therefore, all firefighters are also trained as Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs). Firefighters typically respond to medical emergencies in the aid unit; however, some responses require multiple units including the fire engine. All of the rigs are outfitted with specialized medical equipment as is found in an ambulance, so the highest level of care can be offered no matter what type of unit is responding. In addition, as of July 24th 2014 Fire District #15's Aid 60 is offering transport of sick and injured patients to local hospitals such as Cascade Valley Hospital (Arlington) and Providence Regional Medical Center (Everett).

FIRE SUPPRESSION

The four on-duty firefighters are trained to a minimum of Firefighter 1 certification. Structure fires and wildland (brush) fires often require rapid firefighter interventions such as delivery of water to the fire, search and rescue of occupants trapped inside a building, and the removal of toxic gasses and smoke. One aid unit, two fire engines and one tender are readily available to respond to fire a rescue related 911 responses, unless already on an emergency. Engine 60, districts front line fire suppression unit, will respond to variety of emergencies including medical emergencies; however, E60's main focus is to mitigate fires in residential dwellings, commercial structures, car fires, brush fires and other fire and rescue related emergencies. Engine 60, like most of fire engines in the county, carries a variety of equipment including hand tools, power tools, hoses, ladders, vehicle extrication tools, also known as “Jaws of Life”, water (750 gallons) and much more. Unlike the fire engine, the tender is mostly utilized to transport waste from the water source to the fire scene. Since more than 50% of the neighborhoods do not have hydrants in the vicinity, firefighters are often forced to shuttle water to the fire.

WILD LAND FIREFIGHTING

Tulalip Bay Fire as of 2018 has a wild land firefighting program to better protect our community's natural areas as well as deploy to large incidents in other parts of the country. Our program includes a Brush Truck, Water Tender, and Structural Engine that can all be called to service if needed. Wild land firefighting is very different from structural and includes tasks like digging line, back burning fuels, and felling trees. Tulalip is proud to be able to offer these services to our community and our friends and neighbors near and far.

WATER RESCUE

Fire District #15 also offers services such as water rescue. The Tulalip Fire Department and the Tulalip Police Department are working in conjunction to provide water rescue services. The Water Rescue Team does not have SCUBA equipment or the training to operate underwater for prolonged periods of time; however, three boats which are based in the Tulalip Marina are readily available to respond with combined team members in a moments notice.

FIRE INSPECTIONS

The Snohomish County Fire Marshal's Office conducts annual fire and life safety inspections for the purpose of renewing tenant certificate of occupancy. These inspections serve to verify that the occupancy meets the minimum building and fire code requirements. Our office also works closely with the commercial building inspectors to conduct on-site inspections for commercial properties and fire system installations.
